Several members of the Illinois State track and field team competed at the Eastern Illinois Friday Night Special as a final tune-up for next weekends Missouri Valley Conference Championship.
In womens events, April Siler won the pole vault with a height of 106 and freshman Latisha Johnson captured first in the shot put with a toss of 42 6 1/4.
Alexia Carther took third in the shot with a throw of 396 and also finished third in the 20-lb. weight with a heave of 458 1/2. Dineisha Norman also earned a third-place finish, hers coming in the triple jump with a lead of 368.
In the mens mile, junior Robert Breit ran a 4:22.78 for second-place.
Joe Drevlow captured third in the shot put with a 4911 throw while Ryan Meister claimed third in the high jump soaring to 66 3/4.
Next weekend the Birds travel to Southern Illinois for the Missouri Valley Conference meet to be held on Friday and Saturday.
