Hyland in Eighth After First Day of Heptathlon

Junior Hillary Hyland of the Illinois State track and field team collected 2,818 points and sits in eighth-place after the first day of competition in the heptathlon at the Alabama Relays. Fellow Redbird Hildegunn Holten finished the day with 2, 697 points and is currently 15th. With the 100-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200 meters out of the way, tomorrows events include the long jump, javelin and the 800 beginning at noon. The mens and womens 10,000 meters will be run tomorrow with the remainder of the meet held on Saturday and Sunday at Sam Bailey Track.
