The Illinois State track and field team heads across town to compete in the IWU Relays hosted by Illinois Wesleyan, Saturday, January 19. The field events will start at 10 a.m., while the running events begin at 11:15 a.m.
Because this is a relay meet, it is perfect for where the team is at in the season, said Illinois State head track and field coach Jeff Pigg. There are some kids that we want to run in this meet and some that we do not. A relay meet gives us that opportunity. This meet will be excellent preparation for the Wisconsin meet next weekend.
Teams competing at the IWU Relays include: Illinois Wesleyan, Murray State, Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, University of Chicago, Chicago State, Concordia River Forest, North Park and Elmhurst.
The Redbirds travel to Madison, Wis., on Saturday, January 26, to compete in the Wisconsin Invitational.
