Redbirds To Compete at 12th Annual Iowa State Classic

The Illinois State track and field team travels to Ames, Iowa, Friday and Saturday, February 8-9 to compete in the 12th Annual Iowa State Track and Field Classic at the Lied Recreation Center. The meet begins with a three-hour session starting at 3:30 p.m. Friday and is scheduled to resume at 10:00 a.m. Saturday and run until approximately 7 p.m. The two-day event will include competitors from over 50 schools and independent teams. This is an opportunity for the team to line up against some of the best competition in the country, said Illinois State head coach Jeff Pigg. The kids have had a great week of practice and with all of the MVC teams participating it should be good preparation for the Valley Indoor Championships. Creighton and Evansville are the only two schools in the Valley that do not have track and field teams. Illinois State takes a weekend off before heading to Cedar Falls, Iowa, for the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Championships hosted by Northern Iowa from February 21-23.
