Jen Klostermann, a middle distance runner on the Illinois State track and field teams, was named Missouri Valley Conference Athlete of the Week after a stellar performance where she set a personal-best time in the 800 meters at the Iowa State Invitational last weekend.
The senior from Highland, Ill., placed fourth in the event which was the best finish by any Redbird at the meet. She currently is at the top of the Valley indoor womens best list for the 800 meters after running it in 2:10.66 at the Iowa State Invite.
In addition, she also ran the final leg of the womens 4X400 relay that crossed the line in 3:50.12, marking a season-best time for that event for the Birds and a second-best time in the MVC. The relay team finished eighth at the meet last weekend.
Klostermann is an accounting/business teacher education major and was named Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week on Feb. 3.
