The final day of the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships saw the Illinois State women take fourth with 75 points, while the men placed fifth with 58 points.
The Northern Iowa men and the Southern Illinois women took home the conference titles with 152 and 128 points respectively.
As for the Redbirds, Rhett Hillard earned his second conference championship with Illinois State, winning the shot put Saturday with a throw of 57-6 1/4 and earning ten points for his team. Teammate Brian Krantz also picked up a team point by placing sixth with a throw of 53-5 1/2.
In the mens mile, Indiana States Jordan Fife edged out Dan Tripp and Drakes Brent Wilberts on the final lap to take the conference title. Tripp still placed second and picked up eight team points in the process, finishing with a time of 4:11.70. Teammate Jeremy Doherty earned two team points with a fifth place finish (4:13.13).
The finals of the mens 800-meter run included three Redbird competitors as Bronco Meeks placed second (1:52.49), Geoff Houtman was third (1:53.05) and Tripp was sixth (1:55.97).
On the womens side, competing in her first MVC Championship meet, Lyn Cox won the conference title in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.51. Lian Lucas also earned a medal by taking third with a time of 7.69. Cox and Lucas werent finished however as Cox won her second title by winning the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.49, while Lucas was third with a time of 24.57.
Andrea Mosher was a second place finisher in the 400-meter dash (55.36), while Lindsey Arnold finished third (55.90). Laura Kennedy placed fourth in the 3,000 with a time of 9:49.84, while Betsy McDonald was fifth in the mile (4:59.26).
The 4x400-meter relay concluded the day as the mens team of DeAndre Tillman, Bronco Meeks, Joe Marcin and Geoff Houtman placed fifth with a time of 3:19.92. The womens team of Lian Lucas, Lyn Cox, Cherise Devers and Lindsey Arnold finished third with a time of 3:45.12.
