Through the Eyes Of ... Parrish Fisher | TB

NORMAL, Ill. - GoRedbirds.com sat down with senior tailback Parrish Fisher and asked him to give Redbird Athletics fans an inside look into his life in the new feature series Through the Eyes Of... The series will give an insider's perspective into the lives of many Redbird student-athletes throughout the coming months.

GoRedbirds.com: What was the hardest part about transferring to Illinois State and joining the Redbird team?
Parrish Fisher: I'd say the hardest part was probably the transaction from going from one school to another, as far as getting used to the way things are done differently at each school.

GR: What helped you to decide to finish your football career at Illinois State?
PF: I came up here for a visit and really liked it. I felt really comfortable with the players I met. We had a lot in common and meshed really well.

GR: You are originally from Texas. What do you miss most about Texas since moving to Illinois?
PF: Just the whole lifestyle - the South is a lot different. It's not just one specific thing. I feel like the whole lifestyle in the South is different.

GR: What is your favorite thing about Illinois?
PF: I can tell you my favorite thing about Normal because all I have really been is here. I like that it's two hours from Chicago and two hours from St. Louis. You have two major cities that you can go visit.

GR: What are your personal goals for the 2008 season?GR: You were redshirted due to injury. How did feel when you played in your first game after recovery?
PF: It was kind of a big step. It was a lot of mental preparation. I had to get back into the flow, and it actually took me more than a game to get used to the game time speed.

PF: Usually, I set pretty high goals for myself. I know this is my last year as a senior. I have big goals as far as the team goes. I want to do whatever I can to help the team do as best we can, and get as far as we can.

GR: What are the specific goals you have for the Redbird team this season?
PF: My goal for the team is to go as far as we can. The ultimate goal is to win a championship. This is my last year and I am not going to look at anything shorter than that because getting a championship is my goal.

GR: If you could play on any NFL team which team would you choose?
PF: I'd say the Dallas Cowboys. Dallas is home, and I'm a Cowboys fan.

GR: What has been the highlight of your football career?
PF: I feel like the highlight will be this year. Whatever happens, this year is going to be my highlight.

GR: If you could play any other sport, which would you pick?
PF: I really like all sports about the same. I like anything from basketball to baseball to track and field. I like all sports almost as much I like football.
