NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State head football coach Denver Johnson spoke to the media Tuesday afternoon at the Redbirds' weekly media conference inside the Kaufmann Football Building. Johnson discussed his team's recent 54-44 win over Youngstown State, as well its preparations for Saturday's road game at Missouri Valley Football Conference newcomer South Dakota State.
Prior to Johnson's media conference, senior tailback Walter Mendenhall met with the media briefly to discuss his career game against Youngstown State, a game in which he racked up 225 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Cornerback Chris Garrett also met with the media and discussed the recent national media attention he has garnered following his 93-yard kickoff return for a touchdown last Saturday versus the Penguins.
