WALNUT, Calif. -
Illinois State track and field seniors Devon Williams and Anna Lovell finalized the Redbirds weekend Sunday at the Mt. SAC Relays held in Walnut, Calif., at Hilmer Lodger Stadium and hosted by Mt. San Antonio College.
Williams an Oswego, Ill., native tied for fourth place clocking in with a time of 11.99 seconds in the 100-meter dash, while Lovell crossed the finish line fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.54.
ISU track and field assistant coach Jeff Bovee felt that the experience and opportunity Williams and Lovell got this weekend will help them prepare for the Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships (May 16-18).
"Devon got out of the blocks better today than yesterday," said Bovee. "She was excited to be here and she had a solid performance. I think that this was a great experience for her and Anna. By the time conference gets here they will both be ready to run fast.
"I was really pleased with the way Anna ran her first 300 meters, she needs to work on bringing it in the last 100 meters. Once she closes the gap in she is really going to run fast and hit the regional qualifying marks."
