Bledsoe Named MVFC Offensive Lineman of the Week

NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State racked up a season-high 178 rushing yards in Saturday's 24-14 road win at Missouri State. Sophomore guard Nick Bledsoe was a big part of that effort and was recognized Monday as the Missouri Valley Football Conference Offensive Lineman of the Week by the league office.

Bledsoe led the way for Illinois State's first 100-yard rusher of the season and graded out at 91 percent in Illinois State's win over Missouri State. The Wheeling, Ill., native was credited with a pancake block and two knockdowns against the Bears and paved the way for Cliffton Gordon's career-high 122 yards rushing. In addition, Bledsoe and his teammates on the offensive line did not allow a sack in the game, marking the third time this season the unit had accomplished that feat.

Bledsoe and the Redbirds return to action Saturday against in-state rival Western Illinois on Family Day at Hancock Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
