Former ISU Quarterback Glenn Signs with Hamilton

HAMILTON, Ont. - Former Illinois State quarterback Kevin Glenn, who had spent the previous five seasons with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats Friday. He signed a one-year deal with an option for the 2010 Canadian Football League season.

Glenn, who also spent three seasons with Saskatchewan, has thrown for 20,339 yards and 109 touchdowns while adding 939 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns over 132 career games. Hamilton finished last in the East Division with a 3-15 record.

"Kevin's talent, experience and leadership will make him a valuable member of our team," said Hamilton general manager Bob O'Billovich. "He will be a great fit in our offense and will give us a better chance to win in 2009."

Billovich expressed that Glenn will serve as a mentor to, and insurance for, young quarterback Quinton Porter.

"I'm a competitor so I want to play, but also, I'm a team guy and I want to be able to help the team," Glenn said. "You just want to have an opportunity to compete and I think Hamilton is giving that to me.

"At the same time they've expressed that Quinton's the guy and he's a good guy. I think we have a lot of quarterback depth and when you have depth like that, you tend to win a lot more games."

Glenn's most successful year came in 2007, when he was named the East Division's Most Outstanding Player and an East Division All-Star after leading the league with 5,114 passing yards. Glenn led the Blue Bombers to the Grey Cup that season, but was unable to participate in the championship game after breaking his hand in the semifinals.

Glenn will join former Redbird linebacker Cameron Siskowic on the Ti-Cat roster. The two never played with each other at Illinois State, but will have the opportunity in Hamilton.
