NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State football head coach Brock Spack will give his insights on his team's upcoming game at No. 19 Northern Iowa and will recap last week's Homecoming win over No. 14 North Dakota State Tuesday at noon his weekly press conference at the Kaufman Football Building.
After dropping a pair of tough games to Southern Illinois and Indiana State, the Redbird rebounded with a 34-24 victory over the nationally-ranked Bison last Saturday at Hancock Stadium. ISU rushed for a season-high 287 yards on the ground, thanks to career rushing days from Ashton Leggett and Erik Smith. The Panthers head into the game coming off a tough 19-14 win over non-conference foe South Dakota last weekend and will expect a big crowd at the UNI Dome Saturday on Homecoming at UNI.
Coach Spack will be joined at the weekly luncheon by senior defensive back E.J. Jones and junior offensive lineman Nick Bledsoe. Jones is coming off one of the best games of his career against NDSU, as he recorded a pair of interceptions and forced a crucial fumble late in the third quarter to help the Redbirds secure the victory. Bledsoe, a 2010 preseason All-MVFC selection, was a crucial part of the offensive line that paved the way for 287 yards rushing against the Bison and a pair of 100-plus yard rushers in Leggett and Smith. The ISU offensive line also did not allow a sack in the game against Bison team that came in with 15 sacks on the season.
