TORONTO - Former Illinois State quarterback Kevin Glenn was named the Gibson's Finest CFL Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, as announced by the Canadian Football League (CFL) Tuesday.
Brandon Smith, Markeith Knowlton and Dave Stala were also named Gibson's Finest CFL Players of the Week for week 10 along with Glenn, who previously earned the award in week three after leading the Hamilton Tiger-Cats to a 28-7 rout over the visiting Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The four players were chosen by a panel of judges that includes former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde, now of TSN, and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.
Glenn was masterful in conducting the Ticats offense Monday against Toronto, leading them to their fourth-straight win. The Hamilton quarterback completed 27-of-33 passes for 313 yards and one touchdown against the rival Argos with a 28-13 victory on Labor Day. It marked Glenn's fifth 300 yard-passing game of the season and he also rushed for five yards on two carries.
Glenn has thrown for 2,720 yards, 15 touchdowns and completed 67.4 percent of his pass attempts through ten games this season for the Ticats. In 10 seasons in the CFL, he has completed 60.8 percent of his passes for 26,101 yards and 142 touchdowns in stints with Saskatchewan (2001-03), Winnipeg (2004-08) and Hamilton (2009-present).
In four seasons with the Redbirds, Glenn completed 645-of-1,119 pass attempts for 8,032 yards and 61 touchdowns and rushed 247 times for 490 yards and eight scores. He helped lead the Redbirds to their first two playoff appearances in school history in 1998 and 1999 and set 25 school records in his illustrious career.
Glenn and the Ticats return to action Saturday, Sept. 11, at home against the Montreal Alouettes at Ivor Wynne Stadium.
