NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State Athletics Department and University Program Board are getting into the competitive spirit of the college basketball season for a good cause. The two organizations are co-sponsoring a Registered Student Organization (RSO) Book Drive Battle from Feb. 1-8.
The book drive will collect books for children from kindergarten to eighth grade. Books can be dropped off on the second floor of the Bone Student Center from Feb. 1-8 (see schedule below).
Redbird fans can also drop off books on the concourse of Redbird Arena before the Redbirds women's basketball game against Drake Jan. 22 and the Redbird men's basketball game against Drake Jan. 30. Donation bins will be located at all four main entrances of Redbird Arena. Fans who donate books at the north and east entrances will receive a free ticket to the women's basketball game against Wichita State Feb. 10.
Members of an RSO must designate which organization they are a part of when donating. Participants not part of an RSO can pledge the book donations to a certain Illinois State RSO. The RSO that donates the most books based on number of members will win a pizza party and be honored at the Redbird men's basketball game against Evansville Feb. 9.
