The Illinois State track and field teams completed the final day of competition at the Iowa State Classic Saturday night in Ames, Iowa, at the Lied Recreational Center.
In the seeded running events, Kendric Smith ran to a 12th-place finish in the men's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.24. Sade Sealy crossed the finish line in 11th-place in the women's 400-meter dash in 56.15, as Alia McAfee took 20th in 57.07. In the men's 400-meter dash, Fabian Norgrove completed the race in 48.19 placing 12th. Jil Kerkman (2:13.88) was the only Redbird in the women's 800-meter run, where she finished 15th, while Mat Smoody (1:52.66) and Yosef Tewolde (1:53.91) ended the men's 800-meter run in 17th and 25th places, respectively.
Still in the seeded running events, Jess Husted grabbed 29th place in the mile run with a time of 5:04.02. In the women's 3,000-meter run, Samantha Bluske (9:42.21) took seventh place, while Aisha Praught (9:43.95) finished the race in eighth place. Jon Roberts (8:32.29) completed the men's 3,000-meter run in 16th place and was followed by John Navarro (8:33.03) in 17th.
In the seeded field events, Amanda Albrecht finished the high jump in fifth place after leaping 5-09.75, while Jen Jenkins jumped to a 13th-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 35-10.50. Brittany Smith's throw of 51-03.75 in the shot put gave her fourth place, as Drew Holl took 10th in the men's high jump with a mark of 6-07.00
On the women's side, Husted recorded a top-5 finish in the non-seeded 800-meter run, taking fourth after crossing the finish line in 2:14.88 followed by Breanna Staples (2:18.08) in 22nd place. In the field events, Tori Ziegler took ninth in the non-seeded shot put with a toss of 45-08.00.
Over on the men's side, Nick Geyer finished 13th in the non-seeded 800-meter run with a time of 1:55.29, while Steven Regan ran the non-seeded mile in 4:22.73 placing 19th. In the non-seeded 400-meter dash, Coty Kramer placed 23rd after completing the race in 50.31.
In the field events, Curt Jensen was fourth in the non-seeded shot put with a throw of 54-06.00, while Chris McIntyre was close behind in sixth place after recording a mark of 53-02.25. Tyler Knight grabbed a top-10 finish in the triple jump taking sixth after leaping 46-11.50.
To wrap up the meet, the women's 400-meter relay team finished eighth with a time of 3:46.48, while the men's team took 18th in 3:16.06.
The Redbirds will be back in action Friday, Feb. 18, as they compete at the Eastern Illinois Twilight Meet in Charleston, Ill.
