NORMAL, Ill. -
While a select group of Redbirds are competing in California over the weekend, the rest of the Illinois State track and field teams will head south to Edwardsville, Ill., to participate in the Gateway Classic on the campus of SIU-Edwardsville Saturday.
The Gateway Classic will begin at 10 a.m., with the discus, while action on the track is scheduled for a 10:30 a.m. start with the 10,000-meter run followed by the 4X100-meter relay at noon.
ISU will compete against in-state rivals Lincoln College, SIUE and Western Illinois, along with Saint Louis at the Gateway Classic.
The team members in California will compete at the Mt. SAC Relays Friday and will be back in action Saturday at the Beach Invitational, hosted by Long Beach State. The Beach Invitational will begin at 11 a.m. (CST) with the men's shot put and the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase.
