DES MOINES, Iowa -
Illinois State sophomore Samantha Bluske cruised to a fifth-place finish in the 5,000-meter run at the prestigious Drake Relays, crossing the finish line in a personal-best time of 16:47.07 in Des Moines, Iowa, on the Jim Duncan Track inside Drake Stadium Thursday evening.
In the women's 10,000-meter run, Olivia Myers was 18th in a time of 37:21.54. On the men's side, Mat Smoody finished the unseeded men's 800-meter run in 1:56.18 for 11th place. Scott Krapf (14:35.47) and Matt Mroczynski (15:03.52) were 17th and 21st, respectively, in the 5,000-meter run.
The Redbirds will return to action Friday beginning at 9:30 a.m., with the women's 4X100-meter relay.
