Krapf Named to Capital One Academic All-District Team

NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State track and field senior Scott Krapf was named to the Capital One Academic All-District V Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Thursday. The honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance in the classroom and on the track.

Krapf, who graduated in May with a Master's Degree in sport management and a 4.00 cumulative grade-point average, qualified for the NCAA West Regional in Eugene, Ore., in the 10,000-meter run and finished the race in 30:05.94 for 32nd place. The Danville, Ill., native finished the 10,000-meter run in fifth place at the 2011 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships in 31:17.66 and used a season-best time of 29:51.79 to take 19th place at the competitive Mt. SAC Relays and qualify for the NCAA Regional.

Krapf finished the outdoor season with two top-10 finishes in the 5,000-meter run. Krapf won the event at the EIU Big Blue Classic with a time of 14:40.98 and was sixth at the Outdoor Valley Championships, finishing the race in 14:55.85.

During the indoor season, Krapf finished fifth in the 5,000-meter run at the 2011 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships with a time of 14:50.48.

Krapf and the other first-team Academic All-District honorees will advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
