Women's Track & Field Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) named the Illinois State women's track & field team one of 164 All-Academic teams for the 2011 season, as announced by officials Thursday.

The women's team posted a 3.1 cumulative GPA during the 2011 spring semester, which ranks 43rd among all team GPAs in Division I.

Texas earned the Indoor Track & Field Scholar Team of the Year award, scoring 38 points at the NCAA Indoor Championships back in March, while holding a cumulative GPA of 3.28 through the spring semester.

Oklahoma earned the Outdoor Track & Field Scholar Team of the Year award, scoring 42 points at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, while maintaining a team GPA of 3.03 during the spring semester.

To be eligible for this honor, teams must have at least a 3.00-cumulative team GPA at the most recent NCAA indoor and outdoor championship, and place high among other competitors.
