NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State football head coach Brock Spack will preview the team's upcoming tilt against Missouri Valley Football Conference foe South Dakota State Saturday and give his insights on last weekend's conference opener at Youngstown State on the Brock Spack Show, live from Schooners, Thursday night at 6 p.m.
Illinois State (1-2) returns home and will look to even its record on the season and in Missouri Valley Football Conference play, when the Redbirds take on the Jackrabbits of South Dakota State (1-2) in the conference home opener at Hancock Stadium. Illinois State trails South Dakota State 2-1 in the all-time series between the two schools. The Redbirds picked up their first win in the series with an impressive 24-14 victory in 2010 on the road against the No. 20-ranked Jackrabbits.
Co-hosts Dick Luedke and Ted Schmitz will interact with coach Spack during the hour-long show and will also welcome senior defensive lineman and preseason All-MVFC selection Eric Brunner to the show to get his thoughts on the Jackrabbits.
Brunner has started all three games for the Redbirds in 2011 and has recorded 14 tackles, two sacks and four tackles-for-loss. In the season opener at EIU, the Greendale, Wis., native tallied seven tackles, 3.5 tackles-for-loss and two sacks against the Panthers. Last season, Brunner was named an All-Missouri Valley Football Conference First-Team selection, a MVFC All-Academic First Team honoree, a CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-District V Team selection and a Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA) Academic All-Star Team member after he led the team with four sacks and 9.5 tackles-for-loss.
Schooners is located at 810 East Grove Street in Bloomington, and sits just off the corner of Grove and Clinton Streets. If you can't make it out to Schooners, the show will be broadcast on WJBC AM-1230 and 93.7 FM in the Twin Cities and on GoRedbirds.com.
