NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State head football coach Brock Spack and his staff will publicly announce the 2012 Redbird recruiting class at a National Signing Day party to be held at Alexander's Steakhouse in Normal, Ill., the evening of Feb. 1.
The annual event will begin at 5:30 p.m., with a short meet-and-greet session before Spack and his coaching staff provides commentary and recruiting insight on each of the Redbird prospects, with video clips of the newest Redbirds available for viewing.
The event is free of charge and open to the public, with light appetizers and a cash bar being provided by Alexander's.
Last year's event had to be cancelled due to a blizzard that dumped over a foot of snow in the area on Signing Day, but Spack is hoping for better weather for this year's party.
"The party at Alexander's is one of my favorite parts of signing day," Spack said. "The people at Alexander's have been great to our program and the entire athletics department as a whole, and this event has become something we look forward to. We had a great turnout in our first year and unfortunately we had to cancel due to weather last year, so we hope we can have some milder weather and another big crowd this year. It's fun for us to talk to the fans and alumni who come out about our new players, and we are excited for them to help us celebrate our new signees."
Prior to the event, GoRedbirds.com will provide up-to-date signing day coverage for the seventh-straight year. As each National Letter of Intent (NLI) is certified by the Illinois State Athletics Compliance Office, biographies of each ISU recruit will be updated on GoRedbirds.com. In addition, for Redbird All-Access members, highlight videos of each signee and coaches' comments will also be available to view.
