NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State men's and women's basketball teams participated in Hoopfest Thursday night at Redbird Arena. The fun-filled night had multiple new features in this year's event, including Reggie's Slam Jam, a kid-only dunk contest, a scrimmage between students and coaches and a shootout challenge, where ISU players teamed up with student participants. There were also team scrimmages during the hour-long event.
In the shooting challenge, Lindsay Smith and Paris Lee teamed up with student Brendan Beggs to take the title, winning two rounds of the challenge. The trio made two free throws, two three-pointers and a half-court shot. Later, the Redbird coaches defeated the student squad, 15-8, in a hard-fought five-minute scrimmage.
