Redbirds Return Home for Dual Meet With Truman State

NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State swimming and diving team return to Horton Pool Friday, Oct. 17, to take on the Truman State Bulldogs at 4 p.m. The meet will mark the Redbirds' first dual meet at home this season.

The Redbirds are coming off of a solid performance at the Dennis Stark Relays in South Bend, Indiana, on Oct. 10, where they placed third with a score of 138 points, ahead of Olivet Nazarene (92), and trailing host Notre Dame (184) and winner Ohio State (194).

Head coach Steve Paska is excited to see his swimmers back in their home pool. The Redbirds hosted their annual Red and White Intrasquad Meet on Oct. 4.

"The end of our preseason is upon us," Paska said. "I am excited to host Truman State as our first dual meet. As the coaching staff and I approach Friday's meet, we are looking forward to where the Redbird swimmers are after the past two weeks of competition. As a team, we relish any opportunity to compete at home and after this weekend we only have two home meets left. Each race the Redbird swimmers compete in will provide feedback to determine future lineups for the fall semester."

Head diving coach Phil Hoffmann is excited to see the divers compete in a traditional format, after last weekend's pairs competition.

"I'm looking forward to another chance to compete at home before going into the rest of the season," Hoffmann said. "The Dennis Stark Relays was a good event for us to judge where we are and where we need to be. Our divers are on the right track."

Friday's meet marks the first of back-to-back home meets. The Redbirds host in-state foes Illinois and Southern Illinois on Saturday, November 1.
