DES MOINES, Iowa – Junior Kadi Ilves earned second place in flight one singles as the Illinois State women's tennis team concluded the Missouri Valley Conference Individual Championships Sunday in Des Moines, Iowa.
Ilves fell to Wichita State's Abby Stevens, 6-4, 6-0, in Sunday's flight one singles championship match. Ilves' second-place finish highlighted Illinois State's singles effort. Natalia Parchowska earned fifth place in flight six singles Saturday.
In doubles play Sunday, the duo of Cricket Geldermann and Parchowska defeated Northern Iowa's Sydney Wolfe and Savanna Hunt, 8-4, for fifth place in flight three. In flight one doubles, Ilves and Chanel Scudiero fell to Drake's Mariel Ante and Summer Brills, 8-4 Sunday.
With the MVC Individual Championships complete, the Redbirds will next compete at the ITA Midwest Regional in Champaign, Illinois, to conclude the fall season, Thursday, Oct. 16 through Tuesday, Oct 21.
