AKRON, Ohio – As the Firestone Invitational comes to a close, the Illinois State men's golf team finished in seventh place, shooting a team score of 887 (296-299-292). Zach Burry, shooting par, and Jordan Fahel, firing a 2-over-par, led the Redbirds during the final round, as they improved from eighth place to seventh Tuesday.
Head coach Ray Kralis was pleased with the team's performance during the final round.
"Tyler, Zach and Jordan carried us with strong individual performances, leading us to our low round of the event and one of the best team scores of the day." Kralis said. "I was very impressed with Zach's play in his road debut as a Redbird, and it is clear he can have a major impact on our program. We have to continue getting better as we go, but we are moving in the right direction."
