Redbirds Defend Home Court; Rout I-74 Rival Bradley, 6-1

NORMAL, Ill - No. 1 doubles partners Jakub Eisner and Rolando Torrellas set the tone early defeating Ashton Kalhorn and Hamish Weerasinghe, 8-2, helping the Illinois State men's tennis team (7-10) eventually secure the doubles point, and defeat Bradley (3-17) 6-1, Friday, at Gregory Street Tennis courts.

No. 2 doubles duo Muddappa Appanervanda and Urh Kranjc-Domiter teamed up to beat Arthur Romanet and Justin Abrams, 8-3, while Dylan Steffens and Rodrigo Oliveira lost to Nico Rakitin and Dan Rodefeld, 7-6.

"Overall I'm happy with how we came out and played today," head coach Mark Klysner said. "It's always nice to get the first conference win and we'll have to come out strong tomorrow against No. 38 Drake."

In singles competition No. 1 Erik Brunskog beat Romanet 3-6, 6-4, 10-6. In No. 2 singles Jacob Wilson defeated Kalhorn 6-3, 6-1, while in No. 3 singles Eisner lost to Rakitin, 6-4, 6-3.

In No. 4 singles Kranjc-domiter beat Weerasinghe, 6-4, 6-3. In No. 5 singles Appanervanda rolled over Abrams, 6-2, 6-3, while, in No. 6 singles Torrellas beat Rodefeld, 6-0, 6-1

ISU will look to build on Friday's 6-1 victory tomorrow, as they face No. 38, Drake. The Redbirds match is slated for a 1 p.m. start. Follow twitter @ISUMensTennis for live match updates.
