NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State men's golf team will compete in the ASU Red Wolf Intercollegiate held at Ridge Pointe Country Club, April 7-8, in Jonesboro, Ark. The three-round intercollegiate will take place over the course of two days on par-72, 6,500-yard course.
"We want to finish the regular season in strong fashion and continue building momentum as we head into the MVC Championship," head coach Ray Kralis said. "I feel we need to be as tough as ever with our minds, attitudes and emotions, because there is a great deal of risk-reward at this place requiring discipline in strategy and execution. I believe we are going in feeling very confident, but we have to leave expectations in the parking lot because the game does not care what your plan is."
Leading the Redbirds will be Parker Freiburg followed by Wils Hawn and Jordan Fahel. Tyler Gentilella will play in the fourth position and Kyle Meihofer will play the fifth. Christian Crabill will be competing as an individual.
Along with Illinois State, 19 other schools from 10 different states are competing in this year's tournament, including Arkansas State, Abilene Christian, Belmont, Creighton, DePaul, Drake, Eastern Illinois, Meridian Community College, Nebraska-Omaha, New Orleans, Nicholls State, North Dakota, Northern Iowa, South Dakota State, Southern Illinois, SIU-Edwardsville, Tennessee-Martin, Tennessee State and Tennessee Tech.
The first round will begin Monday at 8 a.m., with a shotgun start.
