NORMAL, Ill. -Â No. 4 seeded Illinois State (7-12, MVC 1-3) will face No. 5 seeded Bradley (3-18, MVC 0-4), Friday in the opening round of the Missouri Valley Conference Team Tennis Championships at the Gregory Street Tennis Courts. Illinois State defeated Bradley, 6-1, in the only regular-season matchup.
The winner of Friday's matchup will play No. 1 seeded Drake (20-5, MVC 4-0, ranked No. 38 nationally)* at 10 a.m. in the semifinals, while, No. 3 seeded Southern Illinois (10-10, MVC 2-2) and No. 2 seeded Wichita State (17-8, MVC 3-1) square off in the other semifinal matchup.
"We are looking forward to hosting the conference tournament," head coach Mark Klysner said. "It's going to be nice to play at home in front of our fans, and hopefully that will give us a little edge in our matches. We are definitely going to have to play our best tennis of the year if we hope to win the title and go to the NCAA's."
