DENVER – After earning a conference-opening win over Drake on Wednesday, Illinois State had to travel West to take on defending Summit League champion Denver on Friday in another league match. Denver proved to be just as tough as always at home, as it picked up a 6-1 victory over the Redbirds Friday at the Denver Tennis Park.
In doubles play, Denver took the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots to take an early lead in the match. As action moved to singles, the home team continued its strong play, winning five of six singles matches to earn the 6-1 win. The lone point of the day for the Redbirds came at the No. 6 position from Caden Scarlett, who defeated Denver's Aaron Beduhn by a final score of 6-3, 6-4.
ISU is back on the courts Wednesday, April 8, when they travel to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to take on Oral Roberts in another key Summit League match. First serve is set for 10 a.m. at the Bernis Duke Tennis Center.Â
