NORMAL, Ill. – A quartet of Illinois State men's tennis student-athletes have been named to the College Sports Communicators 2025-26 Academic All-District® Team on Tuesday, as Tomas Valencia, Caden Scarlett, Tin Ostro and Adrian Dibildox all earned spots on the list for their athletic and academic achievements.
Valencia, a senior from Santiago, Chile, holds a 3.97 cumulative grade point average in finance and economics at Illinois State. Valencia was named the Summit League Scholar Athlete of the Championships and earned his second All-Summit League honor following a 2025 selection. Playing at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles for the Redbirds, Valencia went 2-3 in singles with wins over Drake and Omaha and posted a 15-10 overall singles record. In doubles action, he went 13-9 including a 3-2 mark in Summit League play with partner Dibildox at the top of the lineup.
Scarlett, a senior from Evansville, Indiana, is a finance major who holds a 3.84 GPA. Scarlett earned a spot on the 2026 All-Summit League Team after he went 4-1 during league play playing at the No. 6 spot for the Redbirds. He earned wins over Drake, Omaha and North Dakota and secured the lone point for the Redbirds against Denver in their regular season matchup. Overall, Scarlett was 16-10 in singles action and 14-10 in doubles play, including a 3-2 mark in league play at the No. 2 spot with partner Ostro.
Ostro, a senior from Zagreb, Croatia, holds a perfect 4.0 GPA in finance at Illinois State. A two-time All-Summit League selection and the 2025 Summit League Men's Tennis Scholar of the Championship, Ostro went 16-9 in singles action on the year playing mostly at the No. 4 spot for the Redbirds. He was also 13-11 in doubles action, going 3-2 at the No. 2 spot in Summit League action with Scarlett.
Rounding out the honorees was Dibildox, a senior from Monterrey, Mexico. He holds a 3.68 GPA in engineering technology at Illinois State and capped off his career playing mostly at the No. 2 singles spot for the Redbirds. He picked up a conference singles win against Drake and partnered with Valencia to compete at the No. 1 doubles spot, where the duo went 3-2 in league play.
Illinois State earned a spot in the 2026 Summit League Men's Tennis Championship and faced off against top-seeded Denver in the semifinals.
