SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Illinois State No. 2 doubles tandem of Tin Ostro and Caden Scarlett were among the final Summit League Tennis Peak Performers of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday.
They join Denver's Raffaello Papajcik (men's singles), St. Thomas' Caroline Lindahl (women's singles), and Omaha's Katelynn Kock and Nina Wiese (women's doubles) as the final winners of the weekly regular-season honors. The doubles honors are the first for both Ostro and Scarlett this season.
Ostro and Scarlett went 2-0 as a team last week for the Redbirds, as they wrapped up the regular season against Omaha and North Dakota. The duo's play helped ISU win the doubles point in each match, with Wednesday's team win over Omaha proving to be the win that got the Redbirds into the Summit League Championship coming up this weekend.
On Wednesday against the Mavericks, Ostro and Scarlett earned a 6-2 victory over Anthony Scheglowski and Liam Spiers to help the Redbirds come away with a 5-2 win over Omaha. Then on Saturday, the pair defeated North Dakota's Justin Ilic and Kotaro Matsumura by a score of 6-3 to help ISU secure the first point of the match in a close 4-3 loss to the Fighting Hawks.
Illinois State has earned a spot in the 2026 Summit League Men's Tennis Championship, which takes place at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center from April 24-25, hosted by the University of Tulsa. The No. 4 seeded Redbirds (9-13, 2-3 SL) will take on the top-seeded Denver Pioneers (16-5, 5-0 SL) in Friday's first men's semifinal at 3 p.m. CT.
