NORMAL, Ill. – Associate Athletic Director of Academics and Life Skills Dr. Paul Downey announced the 2014-15 Karin L. Bone Athletics Study Center staff on Wednesday.
Joe Klausner, Kyle Sny and Jeff Spenard have been promoted to assistant directors of academics and life skills. Savannah McAtee and Ashley Wanland join Ramy Mosbah and Keenan Wimbley as academic coordinators. A former graduate assistant and Redbird football student-athlete, Wimbley was recently promoted to full-time status.
"We are excited to start another academic year serving our Redbird student-athletes," Downey said. "I feel the staff we have in place will strive to help our student-athletes meet their academic goals while consistently preparing for life after college."
Klausner will be assigned to the ISU baseball, women's golf and women's tennis teams. Sny will be assigned to football. Spenard will serve the men's basketball and men's tennis teams.
McAtee will work with the Redbird women's basketball and volleyball teams. Mosbah will continue his work with the cross country and track and field teams, while Wanland will be assigned the softball, women's soccer and women's swimming and diving teams. Wimbley will work with the football and women's gymnastics teams.
All incoming student-athletes at Illinois State enroll in the Karin L. Bone Athletics Study Center's Targeting program, designed to help student-athletes adjust academically to Illinois State. The program is administrated by academic coordinators and services approximately 180 student-athletes each semester. The Athletics Study Center also offers tutors to help meet the specific needs of student-athletes via individual tutoring or group study sessions.
The Athletics Study Center offers student-athletes 25 computers containing the latest software to help complete assignments and access research materials. A satellite computer lab in Horton Field House provides additional computers during the evening hours and after practices.
