NORMAL, Ill..—Former Redbird Tim Glover finished fifth in an eight-man field, competing against some of the world's best javelin throwers Sunday, at the International Athletics Association of Federations (IAAF) Continental Cup in Marrakech, Morocco.
Glover finished with a best mark of 79.67-meters (261-04), coming on his final attempt. The former Redbird currently holds a personal-best mark of 84.01-meters.
The start list also boasted the two men at the top of the world lists in 2014: Africa's Ihab Abdelrahman El Sayed and Europe's Antti Ruuskanen. The line-up also included world champion Vitezslav Vesely of the Czech Republic and Commonwealth champion Julius Yego of Kenya. The two-time NCAA champion, three-time All-American and 2013 NCAA runner-up was joined on Team Americas by Olympic champion Keshorn Walcott of Trinidad and Tobago, who finished third with a throw of 83.52m (274-0).
Africa's El Sayed won the competition with a best throw of 83.33m (273-04).
