NORMAL, Ill.  – The third Redbird Basketball Coaches Shows of the 2014-15 season will air tonight, live from the Pub II in Normal, Illinois. Fans can listen live on GoRedbirds.com, as Barb Smith and Dan Muller preview the Redbird games for each team this week, including two road games for the women and one home game for the men.
The Barb Smith Show, hosted by Zach Dietmeier, starts out the night at 6 p.m. Coach Smith will be joined by sophomore forward Mackenzie Freeman. The women's team returns to the road this weekend after its second road swing of the Missouri Valley Conference season, beginning Friday against Wichita State followed by Missouri State Sunday on ESPN3. Freeman transitioned from a guard to a forward earlier this season, and the move is paying off, as she pulled down a career-high seven rebounds against Evansville (Jan. 16). She has had three-straight assignments since her transition to the post position. Freeman is averaging 2.7 points per game this season, while pulling down 2.6 rebounds per game.
The Dan Muller Show follows at 7 p.m., hosted by Dick Luedke and Mike Matthews. Coach Muller will be joined by senior guard Daishon Knight. The men's team won its most recent road game against Drake Tuesday night. After four games in 10 days, the Redbirds will have a few days off before hosting No. 19 Northern Iowa Sunday. Â Knight leads the Redbirds with 15.5 points per game and has netted 45 percent of his attempts from the field. Knight is second on the team in three-point field goal percentage, assists and steals, as he has recorded double figures in 20 out-of-the-last 25 games, dating back to last season.
