NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State swimming and diving team will travel to Evansville, Indiana, Saturday to compete in a dual meet against host Evansville. The Redbirds' final dual meet of the 2014-15 season will begin at 2 p.m.
Head coach Steve Paska wants his team to take advantage of its last opportunity for a tune-up ahead of the Missouri Valley Conference Championship Feb. 18-21 in Carbondale, Illinois.
"We have one more weekend to prepare strategically and tactically before the MVCs," Paska said. "The Purple Aces are having a fantastic season. (Head coach) Rickey Perkins has done a masterful job with that program since he's arrived and I am very respectful of what that young man has done."
Saturday will be the last time head diving coach Phil Hoffmann will see his divers compete before the conference meet. He is excited that the last competition will be against Evansville.
"Evansville is probably one of the most up-and-coming programs in the MVC," Hoffmann said. "I look forward to this meet every year. This will be a great final tune-up for us before conference."
After Saturday's competition, the Redbirds will have just over two weeks to prepare for the MVC Championship, which will be hosted by Southern Illinois.
