Redbirds Travel to Truman State

Normal, Ill. - The Illinois State swimming team will travel to Kirksville, Missouri, Friday to compete against the Truman State Bulldogs in the Natatorium at 5 p.m.

The Redbirds placed second (160) out of five teams last weekend at the Dennis Stark Relays, which was their first away meet of the season. Illinois State competed against Olivet Nazarene (82), IUPUI (108), Wright State (118) and host Notre Dame (240), who took first.

Scott Cameron, Illinois State's head swimming coach is excited to get on the road and compete in their second away meet and first dual meet of the season.

"The team has been looking great in practice and I'm excited to see them get up and race," said Cameron. "This will be a great opportunity for us to see where we are at and what we need to improve on moving forward."

The Redbird diving team will be staying home this weekend, and the whole swimming and diving team will have the next week off, to prepare for their next away meet against Southern Illinois.

Illinois State will be back in action to take on the Salukis, Oct. 31 in Carbondale, Illinois, at 12 p.m.
