Five Redbirds Earn NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete Honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Five members of the 2015 Illinois State softball team earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar-Athlete honors as announced by the NFCA Tuesday.

Molly Cull, Annie Heineman, Lauren Prader, Regan Romshek and Riley Strandgard were all bestowed the honor for finishing the season with a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher. Four of the five players return for the 2016 season.

The quintet was also named to the Missouri Valley Conference Academic Honor Roll and Cull, Prader and Strandgard earned the MVC Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award.

In total, 5,493 softball players across seven membership divisions earned NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2014-15 academic year.

ISU's final fall exhibition games are scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 10 versus Wisconsin at Marian Kneer Stadium. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 1 p.m. with game two slated to begin at approximately 3 p.m.
