NORMAL, Ill. – A limited number of tickets are available for a special luncheon featuring Illinois State head men's basketball coach Dan Muller and Illinois State basketball alum and Tennessee State head men's basketball coach Dana Ford, scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 22, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Hancock Stadium Club.
Organized by the Illinois State Men's Basketball Insider's Club, the Muller/Ford Luncheon is being held in conjunction with the Dec. 22 Tennessee State at Illinois State men's basketball game, slated for 6 p.m. on Doug Collins Court at Redbird Arena. Muller and Ford will share stories and field questions related to their experiences as college basketball coaches and fellow Illinois State alums.
Luncheon tickets are available to the public on a limited basis for $60 each by contacting a Weisbecker Scholarship Fund representative at (309) 438-3803. A table of 10 can also be booked for $500. The lunch buffet menu includes: Italian chicken breast, mixed green salad, herb roasted potatoes, sautéed green beans and fresh baked rolls.
A 2006 graduate of Illinois State, Ford was a four-year letterwinner from 2002-06 and was voted the squad's defensive player of the year after being ranked in the Missouri Valley Conference top-10 in both steals and blocks. Ford later joined Muller's staff at Illinois State, for the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons, where he assisted in the Redbirds' 36-31 mark that included an appearance in the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) semifinals. As ISU's associate head coach, Ford served as the Redbirds' recruiting coordinator and managed players' academic progress along with his coaching duties.
Tennessee State introduced Ford as its 17th men's basketball head coach at a press conference on April 21, 2014. Now in his second year at TSU, Ford is the nation's youngest NCAA Division I head coach. The Tamms, Illinois, native's coaching stints have included: Winthrop (graduate assistant, 2006-07); Wichita State (graduate assistant, 2007-08); Chipola Community College (assistant, 2008-09); Tennessee State (assistant, 2009-11); Wichita State (assistant, 2011-12); Illinois State (associate head coach, 2012-14); Tennessee State (head coach, 2014-present).
