NORMAL, Ill. – The first Redbird Basketball Coaches Shows of the 2015-16 season will air tonight, live from Pub II in Normal, Illinois. Fans can listen live on GoRedbirds.com, as Barb Smith and Dan Muller preview the two Redbird games this week, including the second-straight road game for the women and a home game for the men.
The Barb Smith Show, hosted by Tim Lewis, starts out the night at 6 p.m. Coach Smith will be joined by freshman guard Shakeela Fowler. The women's team began a three-game road swing at nationally-ranked DePaul Saturday (Dec. 5) and will travel to Moline, Illinois, to take on in-state rival Northern Illinois in the MVC/MAC Challenge on Dec. 13. During last week's two games, Fowler averaged 11 points per game, which was the second most on the team. She netted 43 percent of her field goal attempts and led the Redbirds with eight assists and four steals. On the season, the freshman guard is averaging 12.1 points per game, as she leads the team in assists (25) and steals (15).
The Dan Muller Show follows at 7 p.m., hosted by Dick Luedke and Mike Matthews. Coach Muller will be joined by senior transfer Quintin Brewer. The men's team fell in its most recent home game against UAB Saturday (Dec. 5). The men host Murray State Sunday, Dec. 13. Brewer is averaging four points per game and has netted 39 percent of his field goal attempts. The forward averages 4.3 rebounds per game to go along with three blocks and two steals.
