KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Illinois State senior guard Daishon Knight is a National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division I District 16 Second-Team selection, as announced by the NABC Friday.
The all-district selections were chosen and voted on by member coaches of the NABC. In all, 250 student-athletes, from 25 districts were honored. Friday's honor marks Knight's third postseason accolade of the season. Earlier this month, he was named to the MVC All-Tournament Team and the All-MVC Second Team.
Knight led Illinois State offensively and ranked fifth in the league with 14.3 points per game during his senior campaign. He recorded double figures in 26 of ISU's 35 games, including eight of his final nine contests as a Redbird. Knight finished his two-year career with 951 points, ranking No. 47 on ISU's all-time scoring list. His career average of 13.8 points per game ranks No. 21 in ISU history.
The Baltimore, Maryland, native is the only Redbird to have started all 35 of ISU's games in 2014-15, totaling a team-best 49-straight starts dating back to 2013-14. Knight also led the MVC with an 86.3 percent free throw average.
Knight helped guide the 2014-15 Redbirds to a 22-13 overall record, marking the team's most wins since also earning 22 in 2009-10. ISU upset No. 8 Wichita State in the MVC Tournament semifinals before earning an at-large bid to the National Invitation Tournament, where the Redbirds advanced to the second round.
