LAWERENCE, Kan. – Senior Kevin Fisch competed in the decathlon of the 88th Kansas Relays at Rock Chalk Park. Fisch finished fifth in the event with 6543 points, as he competed in five events Wednesday and five events Thursday.
On Wednesday, Fisch began the decathlon with the 100-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 11.90. From the track, Fisch competed in three-straight field events, beginning with the long jump, where he jumped 6.37 meters. At the shot put, he recorded a throw of 11.70 followed by a mark of 1.86 in the high jump. It was back to the track for one last event Wednesday, where Fisch toed the line in the 400-meter dash, finishing in 55.27 seconds.
Thursday started on the track, as Fisch began the day with the 110-meter hurdles. Fisch finished the race in 16.71 seconds. The discus was the next event for Fisch, with a toss of 38.43 meters. In the pole vault, he cleared the bar at 4.40 meters. From the pole vault, Fisch moved over to the javelin, where he led the field with a mark of 57.12 meters. Fisch ended the competition with the 1500-meter run, crossing the finish line in 4:47.38.
The Redbirds return to competition Saturday at the Illinois Twilight.
