NORMAL, Ill. – Going live on June 4, the Weisbecker Scholarship Fund staff set a goal to grow the annual fund by 100 new members in 100 days leading up to the first home football game of the year against Morgan State on Sept.12. Just 88 days into the membership drive, new member No. 100 joined the WSF and the membership drive was completed 12 days ahead of schedule.
"It's a testament to our student-athletes, coaches, support staff, and department as a whole," Illinois State Director of Annual Giving Sean Johnson stated. "This athletic department thrives on the support of the community and with all the success we've experienced, both on and off the field, combined with the number of hours our student-athletes spend in the community, it is really an exciting time to get involved and help make a difference in the lives of our student-athletes. We are definitely excited about finishing the 100-in-100 early, but we are by no means satisfied and hope to keep moving forward."
On the heels of the 100-in-100 being completed, the WSF staff now shifts its attention to the "309" portion of the membership drive. The goal of the "309" membership drive is to grow the annual fund by 309 new members by the end of the calendar year. To date, 230 new members have joined the WSF.
