Redbirds Host Northern Iowa at Horton Pool

NORMAL, Ill. – Fresh off its annual training trip, the Illinois State swimming and diving team will host Missouri Valley Conference foe Northern Iowa Friday at Horton Pool. The meet against the Panthers is set to begin at 5 p.m.

Illinois State head swimming coach Scott Cameron is excited to have his team back at its home venue for the first time since the Red and White Intrasquad meet on Oct. 3.

"This will be our first home meet of the year and it will be against a very strong team in our conference," said Cameron. "This will be a great opportunity for our team to have some exciting races and for us to see where we are at, as we hit the home stretch of our season."

Redbird diving will also be back in the competitive atmosphere since last competing at the Louisville Invite, Nov. 20-22.

Illinois State head diving coach Phil Hoffmann is looking forward to competing against two Missouri Valley Conference teams within the next two weeks. The Redbirds host Evansville on Jan. 22.

"UNI is as deep in diving as they have been in a long time," said Hoffmann. "They are well coached and should be a great test for our divers."

Admission to all home meets at Horton Pool is free.
