INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Illinois State All-American running back Marshaun Coprich will have a chance to impress National Football League scouts and executives in hopes of hearing his name called on draft day, after he received an invitation to participate in the NFL Scouting Combine (National Invitational Camp) in Indianapolis, Indiana, February 23-29, 2016.
Coprich will be one of over three hundred of the very best college football players invited to this year's combine, which can be watched live on the NFL Network. Â Top executives, coaching staffs, player personnel departments and medical personnel from all 32 NFL teams will be on hand to evaluate the nation's top college football players eligible for the upcoming NFL Draft. This intense, four-day job interview is an exciting time for the athletes and a vital step in achieving their dreams of playing in the NFL.
"Learning Marshaun had received an invite to the NFL Combine was great news," ISU head coach Brock Spack said. "It is certainly well-deserved after the work he put in the past two years here at Illinois State. Â He has earned all of the accolades that have come his way to this point, and this will be a great opportunity for him to see where he stacks up with some of the best players in the country."
The last Redbird football standout invited to compete at the NFL Combine was wide receiver Laurént Robinson. Â After running the 40-yard dash in 4.41 seconds at the combine, he was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the third round of the 2007 NFL Draft.
Honored with the Adrian "AP" Peterson FCS Offensive Player of the Year Award by College Sporting News, Coprich ended his illustrious career at Illinois State by being honored as an All-American by The American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), The Walter Camp Football Foundation, the Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA), STATS and The Associated Press.
The Victorville, California, native followed up a historic junior campaign in 2014 with another stellar effort during his senior season in 2015. The two-time Missouri Valley Football Conference Offensive Player of the Year led the league in every rushing category and ranks No. 2 in the FCS in rushing yards (1,967) and rushing yards per game (151.3), and No. 3 in points per game (11.2). He helped Illinois State to a share of the MVFC title for a second-consecutive season and led the Redbirds to the quarterfinals of the FCS playoffs for the third time in the last four seasons.
