Redbird Gymnasts Return Home To Host UIC

NORMAL, Ill. –After a double meet last weekend, the Illinois State women's gymnastics team is ready to bring it home, when the Redbirds host their second home meet of the season against UIC on Jan. 31 in Horton Field House at 2 p.m.

"Conference rival UIC is just ahead of us in the national rankings so it should be a very tight competition," Illinois State head coach Bob Conkling said. "Our goal for the meet is to be consistent and hit our routines on each of the four events."

The Redbirds finished third in last Sunday's tri-meet against Ball State and Eastern Michigan, finishing with a 191.900, marking their highest team score of the season. Sarah Fisher scored big with a 9.750 on vault, a 9.675 on bars and a 9.650 on floor, and fellow senior Amanda Mohler hit both her beam and bar routine earning a 9.800 on beam and 9.775 on bars. Danci Cha also contributed with a 9.675 on floor and 9.725 on bars.

The Redbirds will also be happy to welcome back some former gymnasts to cheer the ladies on in the meet against UIC. ISU will also welcome all gymnastics club members and their families to the meet, with an autograph session post meet with the Redbird gymnasts.
