NORMAL, Ill. – The Redbirds had a successful final day of the Illinois State Invitational after winning all six singles matches and two out of the five doubles matches that they were featured in. With the end of the Illinois State Invitational, the fall season is concluded.
"I'm very happy with how we finished the day," said head coach Mark Klysner. "The weather was difficult to manage all weekend and I think the guys did a good job keeping their focus on their matches. We had some great results finishing 14-4 in singles and 4-4 in doubles. Now we will just get ready and prepare for the spring."
During round three of singles Urh Krajnc Domiter defeated Eastern Illinois' Freddie O'Brien 6-4, 6-4. Dylan Steffens defeated Eastern Illinois' Grant Reiman 6-3, 6-2. Andreas Boers defeated Eastern Illinois' Trent Reiman 6-1, 6-4. Christoffer Greve defeated Eastern Illinois' Gage Kingsmith 6-2, 6-1. Egehan Sertkaya defeated Northwestern Ohio's Ronnie Myburgh 6-3, 7-5 and Peter Foersom defeated Eastern Illinois' Braden Davis 6-1, 6-1.
In round two of doubles, Krajnc Domiter and Greve defeated Marquette's Alexander Warstler and Brandon Shanklin 8-4. Boers and Steffens fell in a close battle to Marquette's Scott Christian and Andre Romanello 8-7. Sertkaya and Foersom fell to Northwestern Ohio's Lars Kaplusch and a fill in player 8-3.
Round three of doubles featured a win by Greve and Krajnc Domiter against Northwestern Ohio's Theo Baudin and Gjorgji Popovski 8-4. Foersom and Sertkaya fell to Northwestern Ohio's Jean-Marc Krone and Ronnie Myburgh 8-3.
