Women’s Hoops Finishes Homestand Against UNI Sunday

NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State women's basketball team will play the final game of a three-game homestand when it hosts Northern Iowa Sunday at 7 p.m. on Doug Collins Court at Redbird Arena.

Illinois State (6-16, 4-7 MVC) enters the contest following a 98-58 loss to Missouri Valley Conference leading Drake Friday night. The Redbirds hung with the Bulldogs early – the teams were tied at 18-18 after one quarter of play – but the Bulldogs started to pull away in the second quarter before handing the Redbirds their most lopsided loss in conference play this season.

Shakeela Fowler and Katrina Beck led the Redbirds in the loss, scoring 12 and 13 points, respectively.

Northern Iowa (14-9, 9-3) enters Sunday's contest after securing a 61-45 win at Indiana State Friday night. Madison Weekly and Jen Keitel paced the Panthers, scoring 18 points apiece in the win.

Illinois State is 42-30 all-time against the Panthers. Northern Iowa won the previous meeting this season, 65-51, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, on Jan. 15.
