MOBILE, Ala. – Illinois State sophomore Zach Burry fired a 3-under-par 69 in the second round of the afternoon Tuesday, to help lead the Redbirds at the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate hosted by South Alabama at the Magnolia Grove Crossings Course in Mobile, Alabama.
The Redbirds finished the day in 14th place in a field that includes No. 4 ranked Auburn, which finished the day in first place overall with a 16-under-par 560 (278-282). Â No. 2 ranked Wake Forest bounced back from a rough start in the first round and moved up four spots to fourth with a two-round total of 575 as well. Â ISU combined for a final score of 303 in the first round, but shaved eight strokes off in the second round for a 295 and a two-round total of 598.

"We got off to good starts in both rounds, but we didn't close them as a team which comes back to haunt you in a field this strong from top to bottom," head coach Ray Kralis said. Â "Zach played very solid in the afternoon, and the other guys had good stretches that we can build on. We need to tighten some things up tomorrow and take a step forward as a team."
Burry bounced back after a first-round 76 and shot seven shots better in the afternoon to finish in a tie for 23rd individually with a two-round tally of 145. Â Kyle Meihofer was next in a tie for 60th with a two-round total of 151 (75-76), with teammate Trent Wallace right behind with a combined effort of 152 (75-77). Â Tyler Gentilella and Michael Mounce rounded out the Redbird contingent, each posting a two-round tally of 153, with Mounce bouncing back from a 79 in round one to post a 2-over-par 74 in round two.
Tuesday's final-round action will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Live stats from the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate will be updated every three holes throughout each day of competition and will be available at www.golfstat.com. Â
