NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State's chapter of the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) has named its 2016-17 executive board, Associate Athletics Director for Academics and Life Skills Dr. Paul Downey announced Wednesday.
The following student-athletes were named to leadership positions:
President – Jake Kolbe (football, physical education major)
Vice President – Renee Solberg (women's golf, marketing)
Secretary – Samantha Ward (gymnastics, exercise science)
Community Service Coordinator – Kristyn Bossle (gymnastics, biology)
Events Coordinator – JD Lafayette (men's track and field/cross country, computer science)
Additionally, Kolbe and Sara Stankoskey (soccer, exercise science) will serve as Illinois State's Missouri Valley Conference SAAC representatives.
Through SAAC, student-athletes have a voice in the NCAA through advisory committees at the campus, conference and national level. Each committee is made up of student-athletes assembled to provide insight on the student-athlete experience and offer input on the rules, regulations and policies that affect student-athletes' lives on campus.
