Bybee, Stankoskey Win Academic Awards

NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State student-athletes Ryan Bybee and Sara Stankoskey were recognized recently at the School of Kinesiology and Recreation Academic Achievement and Service Awards presentation.

Bybee was named the Howard Hancock Athletic Achievement Award winner, while Stankoskey received the Clifford E. Horton Scholarship Award.

Bybee, a member of Illinois State's track and field and cross country teams, is a native of Elmwood, Illinois. He majors in recreation and park administration and is currently the president of Illinois State's Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC).

Bybee is a two-time All-Missouri Valley Conference First-Team selection as a member of Illinois State's indoor distance medley relay team.

Stankoskey, a member of the soccer team, is a native of Carol Stream, Illinois. She is an exercise science major and is Illinois State's SAAC female representative to the MVC.

Stankoskey appeared in 15 games and started eight as a key member of Illinois State's defensive unit in 2015. A three-year member of the team, she was an MVC All-Freshman Team selection in 2013.

The Howard Hancock Athletic Achievement Award and Clifford E. Horton Scholarship Award are named in honor of legendary Redbirds, who are also the namesakes of Hancock Stadium and Horton Field House.
